Moving to China (津巴布韦 江约翰)

In 2007, I came to Shanghai, China to undertake my Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Shanghai University of Electric Power.

The overall experience is amazing! Learning Chinese continues to be a tough challenge, but on a daily basis I get the most out of this experience and learn a lot more than I expected. The people are very open and friendly, they like to have visitors so it’s a very enriching experience. My Chinese friends are really nice and do everything they can to show me their way of life.

I definitely consider my stay in China a milestone of my life. The rapid socio-economic development shows the determination and strength of the Chinese people which I adore so much. I cherish fond memories of the Beijing Olympics, 2010 Shanghai Expo, Chinese festivals and heritage.

I think I now have got a good overview of China in my three years here. It’s amazing, there are so many different cultures here that come together and form one new culture. I love how people are so proud of their culture and celebrate it everyday; through festivals, food, music etc.

My stay here has offered me a window into the way Chinese live; I have experienced warm and eclectic Chinese culture first-hand. In addition, I have learnt a lot about other nations cultures through other foreigners working, studying or visiting China.

My heart is full of the joy of staying here…..
